1/2 cup sugar
1 cup finely chopped nutmeats or coconut
1/2 cup soft shortening
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1 cup rolled oats
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Heat oven to 350 F. Grease a square pan, 8 x 8 inches. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. While warm, cut into squares.
